CASKET INTERMENT
At Royal Oak Burial Park we offer a number of options for
those who prefer burial. It is our goal to allow a family,
through the options offered, to find an interment site that
will best reflect their personal preferences and fulfill
their remembrance needs.
ABOVE-GROUND INTERMENT
The
Royal Oak Mausoleum is available for above-ground casket
entombment in outdoor or indoor crypts. Mausoleum crypts
are clean, dry and secure and are memorialized with a bronze
name bar, ceramic photos in bronze frame, flowers vases
and perpetual vigil lights (lights indoor crypts only).
Indoor crypts can be visited year round in a secure, comfortable,
and dry environment.
Once the preserve of only the wealthy, community mausoleums
have made this form of interment an affordable alternative
for all families. The cost of interment in a crypt is comparable
to in-ground interment when all cost factors are considered.
TRADITIONAL IN-GROUND BURIAL
All in-ground interment graves are designated for single
depth casket interments. In addition to the interment of
a single casket, plots may also be used for the interment
of two (2) people's cremated remains.

Currently grave selections are made in Section 'W' and
The Terraces / Section 'T' : " These sections feature 3
types of interment lot;

INTERMENT SERVICES
The interment process includes the opening and closing
of the grave, installation of the liner or protective vault,
provision of related interment equipment, graveside dressing,
grounds personnel and administrative services.
Interments
can be scheduled Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:30
a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The Burial Park office must be notified
at least 24 hours prior to the interment time. Interment
services that arrive at the Burial Park later than 3:30
p.m. are subject to overtime charges. Saturday interments
are permitted but an overtime fee is charged for this service.
Families are responsible for providing pallbearers
to transfer the casket from the funeral coach to the gravesite.
At the conclusion of the graveside committal service, families
may; elect to leave the gravesite with the casket to be
lowered after all attendees have left the cemetery; witness
the casket being lowered to ground level or completely into
the grave liner; or, witness the lowering of the casket,
placement of the liner or vault lid, and the complete filling
of the grave to ground level.
A
flower vase and protective tile are installed at the time
of each burial. For 2 years following interment, should
the vase or tile be damaged or go missing they will be replaced
at no cost to the family. After 2 years the vase and/or
tile can be replaced for a nominal fee.
CONCRETE GRAVE LINER (Mandatory)
A concrete grave liner is required for every traditional
casket interment. The liner is installed for the purpose
of cemetery maintenance and safety. Use of a liner ensures
burial sections are level; allowing cemetery visitors, workers
and equipment to pass over existing graves safely and to
facilitate grounds care functions. A concrete liner does
not seal and will not prevent the entrance of water and
other gravesite elements into the space occupied by the
interred decedent.
PROTECTIVE BURIAL VAULT (Optional)
While a protective vault serves the same functional purpose
as the concrete liner it also provides added protection
for the interred decedent. The heavier, reinforced construction
of a protective vault provides added protection against
the weight of the earth above and surrounding the vault.
In addition to improved structural strength the protective
vault has a sealing lid and high impact ABS lining that
combine to seal the vault and protect the interred casket
and decedent from the entrance of water and other gravesite
elements.
MEMORIALS
It is the responsibility of the family to arrange for a
permanent memorial. Graves remain unmarked until these arrangements
are made. If a family anticipates a lengthy delay in making
a decision regarding a permanent memorial they can arrange
for a temporary concrete identification marker to be installed
by the Burial Park.
The location and type of lot selected will determine the
form of permanent memorial permitted on the grave. Permanent
grave markers must be fabricated from either solid granite
or bronze mounted on a granite or concrete base.
All memorials, markers and monuments must comply with established
Burial Park rules and regulations. Detailed information
on Burial Park memorial regulations is available at the
Burial Park office.
A full line of bronze and granite markers are available
for purchase from the Burial Park office. Families are also
free to purchase markers from an outside supplier. Regardless
of where a memorial is purchased it is important to remember
an installation fee and Care Fund contribution is payable
to the Burial Park when memorials are installed at the grave
site.
VISITATION HOURS
The Burial Park and Mausoleum are open every day of the
year for visiting. The gates are opened at 8:30 a.m. and
are closed and locked at dusk. Visiting hours and flower
regulations are posted on the information kiosk immediately
inside the Burial Park gates.
FLOWERS
Only fresh cut flowers that fit in gravesite flower vases
are permitted from March 1 through October 31. Fresh cut
flowers and artificial flowers are permitted from November
1 through February 28. (Only artificial flowers are permitted
inside the mausoleum, no fresh flowers at any time.)
Families and visitors should be aware that the Burial Park
has a large deer population and it is not uncommon for flowers
to be eaten by the deer within hours of their placement
at a gravesite.
The spring clean-up of artificial flowers / seasonal displays
commences on March 1. Families who wish to recover items
placed over the winter months should do so on or before
February 28.
Planting of flowers or shrubs on graves or the adornment
of graves with personal mementos is not permitted. Flowers,
plantings and gravesite decoration that do not comply with
cemetery regulations and flowers that wilt and become unsightly
are subject to removal, without notice.
PERPETUAL
CARE
Upon the purchase of an interment or memorial site and
for every memorial installed in the Burial Park a contribution
is made to the Care Fund of the cemetery. This is a requirement
of provincial legislation. The Care Fund portion of a purchase
price is invested into a legally protected trust fund that
is established for the long term care of the cemetery. The
cemetery relies only on the interest income generated by
the Care Fund principal to provide care and maintenance
of the cemetery, 'in perpetuity'.
BURIAL PARK FEES
The total price related to the purchase and use of a grave
is determined by: the site selected, the interment fee,
the grave liner or optional protective vault selected, the
permanent memorial and installation, and the required contributions
to the Care Fund. Price lists are available from the Burial
Park office or you can click on the links below for downloadable/printable
copies of our most current price lists.
